(1938-2021)

Sheen Farrukh, a renonwed writer and journalist, was born in Gujranwala in 1938. She obtained her master’s degree in geography from the University of Punjab, Lahore, after which she joined journalism. She worked with Akhbar-i-Khawateen, an Urdu magazine, for the longest period as a journalist and remained with it until retirement. She was the author of many books, including a biographical novel on artist Ali Imam Madaar and an autobiographical book Jeeney Ka Jurm. Two other notable publications were Kari Zakhm, a collection of research essays on honour killing based on her field work, and Nai Dunia Purani Dunia.
