Mountaineer Samina Baig is the first Pakistani woman to climb K2 – the second highest mountain in the world in 2021. Earlier, Samina became the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest – the highest mountain in the world – in 2013. The 33-year-old also holds the honour of scaling the seven highest peaks in the world, known as the Seven Summits. Baig comes from Shimshal Village in Hunza Gojal, Gilgit–Baltistan, Pakistan, and was trained in mountaineering from the age of 15 by her brother, Mirza Ali. Samina Baig has emerged as a symbol of Pakistani women’s determination, courage, and bravery.
